For more than 40 years we’ve been passionate about developing novel solutions to cartilage degeneration and joint pain, specifically in racehorses, an industry that we have extensive experience in. Over the years, we’ve expanded our expertise to include innovative human and canine joint health and pain relief products, including OTC pharmaceutical offerings sold through major retailers like Costco, Walmart, Walgreens, Shoppers Drug Mart (Canada) and others.

While most supplement companies often sell a wide range of different supplements, our primary focus and expertise is in formulating cutting edge products for cartilage health and joint pain relief. We were the first in the world to develop a true, game changing topical pain reliever for race and performance horses back in the 1980’s and launched it worldwide in 1992 under the brand name Racehorse Strength Equi-Block®*. Originally containing our proprietary combination of capsaicin, nordihydrocapsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin, homodihydrocapsaicin, homocapsaicin and  other active ingredients, as well as a unique fragrance that identified it as Equi-Block®, it was a worldwide success and became the #1 selling topical pain reliever in the world for race and performance horses suffering from joint pain.

We also co-developed Magic Cushion®** with Ron J. Riegel, DVM. This formula was developed specifically to treat horses suffering from hoof pain and once contained the same active ingredients that we used in Equi-Block®.

Although Equi-Block® and Magic Cushion® are now owned by other equine companies, we still make the original formulations for use on our own horses, if required.

Between our first-of-their-kind topical analgesic medications for joint and hoof pain, and now SLIDE™ and SPIKE™ (a proprietary blend of 8 different herbal analgesics that we formulated back in the 1980’s as an alternative to the banning of bute, flunixin, flumethasone, prednisolone, etc. on race day), we’re proud to say that we’re pretty darn good at combating and preventing tendon, ligament, hoof and joint pain in race and performance horses. In fact, we don’t believe there’s another equine supplement company in the world that does it better.

Glucosamine supplements and hyaluronic acid joint injections for racehorses were both introduced in the early 1980’s. When used in sufficient dosages both ingredients work for equine joint problems. However, hyaluronic acid injections had a significant edge over glucosamine, even combinations of glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM, in terms of efficacy and noticeable therapeutic results. Hyaluronic acid is - by far - the best compound for overall cartilage health and joint pain relief. It’s in a league of it’s own. And that simply makes sense because hyaluronic acid is the major compound that helps produce synovial fluid, the lubricant found inside joints.

While we diligently fed glucosamine to our racehorses twice daily in the 1980’s, there were many times when glucosamine was not enough to help some of our horses suffering from joint problems, and we had to resort to joint injections of hyaluronic acid. These injections really do work, but they don’t last very long (they do last longer than joint injections of cortisone though, which was the norm in the 1970’s and early 1980’s prior to hyaluronic acid injections becoming available).

During the 1980’s and throughout the 1990’s, we experimented with numerous supplement nutraceuticals in various combinations and dosages attempting to create the ultimate equine joint supplement. In 1993, we began feeding hyaluronic acid and collagen type II to our horses; first as stand alone ingredients to prove efficacy and to gain an understanding of the dosages needed to provide real therapeutic benefits, and then combining them with glucosamine. This combination of high dose hyaluronic acid, collagen type II and glucosamine worked incredible. The results achieved on horses suffering from multiple joint problems can be very profound. You will not find an equine joint supplement that works better than SLIDE™.

We feed SLIDE™ to all of our horses, even our 2 and 3 year olds. We give our young horses additional joint support right from the very beginning when they start training and competing to help prevent breakdown of articular cartilage and avoid future joint problems. We are 1,000% preventative minded when it comes to equine joint health. We don’t wait until our horses develop joint problems, we try and prevent joint problems from occurring because damaged joint cartilage is all but impossible to repair. We believe that our preventative approach is the reason for our phenomenal success at keeping joint problems at bay in our own performance horses. In fact, we haven’t injected a single joint in any of our horses for 30 years since formulating SLIDE™. Sadly, most horse owners and trainers don’t have this preventative mindset when it comes to equine joint health. Instead, they wait until a joint problem arises and then start their horse on a joint supplement. This is absolutely the wrong approach.
